Nov 05, 2019 · I was working on my Dell Latitude e5540 and suddenly it turned off. The ac adapter and battery were in. Now it won't turn on. The lights on the ac adapter (original) are off. If I plug the adapter to the wall the adapter lights turn on, but when I plug it into the laptop the adapter lights turn off immediately. Of course the laptop still turned off.

May 07, 2007 · I have a Dell Inspiron 500m laptop. Since last week, I have been unable to charge my laptop battery. Whenever I plug in the power adapter, the LED light glows for a second and then turns off. It refuses to charge. I am suspecting some sort of short circuit within the laptop. I tried another power adapter and another battery: same result.
